Coach Bus Services

There is a network of Coach services between towns on the Costa Blanca. The services are more frequent and shorter in distance than the rail services.

Coach Services from UK

National Express run services to Spain via there Eurolines network. Includes year round services to Alicante, and Summer only service to Benidorm.

Roads

A7 Motorway

The A7 motorway runs along or near to the coast from Catalonia to Andalucia which includes the Costa blanca coast

For most of it's length it is a toll road (autopista), the free sections are toll free (autovia)

Main Roads N340 N332

Alternatives to the A7 motorway are the 2 main roads the N340 and N332. Besides the lower speed limit they are much slower due to the larger amount of traffic

Minor Roads

As you go inland many of the roads have torturous twists as they wind there way along hillsides giving marvelous scenic views.

RENFE National Rail Services

RENFE is the Spanish National Railway, consisting of 13,000Kms of track. The system is mainly radial, radiating from Madrid to all the regional capitol cities, and some lines from France down the Eastern Coast.

Prices vary according to the type of train e.g. fast (talgo) to slow (exprés).

Alicante has 3 RENFE stations
Estacion F.C. de Madrid
Estacion de Murcia
Marina Station
and 1 FGV station.
Estacion de Ferrocarril
Note Most of the Costa Brava, including Benidorm is by passed by the RENFE national railway. The railway to use is the FGV - see right column

UK to Spain by train

Eurostar operates regular services from London to Paris with connections onward to Madrid and Barcelona traveling on the overnight Trainhotel services from Paris.

The Euromed

Connects Barcelona, Valencia and Alicante

Barcelona to Valencia takes under 3 hours.
Barcelona to Alicante 4hr 45min.

This line goes goes inland and byepasses Benidorm

Motorail Service

Avoid long drives using the Motorail train transportation for your car.

Taxis

Taxis are fairly cheap and metered. Display a green light or 'libre' sign when available to hire.

Surcharges apply:
     -between 11pm to 6am.
     -Luggage
     -Trips outside the town.

A  small tip should be given.

Alicante - Benidorm - Denia train is a private small gauge railway with an hourly service between Alicante and Benidorm, and less frequently trains to Denia.

The Alicante - Denia line runs for 93 km along the northern coast of the province of Alicante and has 9 stations and 31 halts. It is served by 13 diesel trains which operate on the regular line between Alicante and Denia and 5 trams which cover the Alicante - El Campello route, via the TRAM Metropolitano train-tram platform. Main Stations
Alicante, Albufereta, El Campello,
Vila Joiosa (Villajoyosa), Benidorm, Altea, Calpe, Benissa, Teulada, Gata, Denia

Alicante Station
The railway station is in on the Avenida de Villajoyosa on the West side of Alicante, near the sea front.
Note: This is a separate station from the main railway station in the centre of Alicante where the RENFE national railway trains run from.

Benidorm Station
The railway station is in on the Avinguda De Beniarda, just under 2km inland of Benidorm old town.

The Lemon Express , a tourist train, runs on the FGV line

The Trensnochador

The Trensnochador a spanish nick name based on Train and Night-owl. A late train service serving the night time party goers along the coast.

Runs from 9pm to 5am between Alicante and Altea. There are 33 stations including Benidorm on this stretch
